A New York native and life-long professional drummer, Erik played Dvorak at Carnegie Hall, punk and ska music at CBGB’s and classic rock at Wetlands in NYC in his teens.
After furthering his studies in percussion performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, he hit the road in 1993 and toured nationally until 2004 with the progressive jazz quartet Schleigho, releasing 5 CD’s and playing over 3000 shows with the likes of jazz great John Scofield, funk legend Maceo Parker and rock icons to The Allman Brothers Band, who signed them in 1999 to their record label, Flying Frog Records.

Everything he teaches seems like a logical continuation of something he taught in the past. For example, he taught me a bunch of 8th-note patterns, then showed me how those are the same building blocks of 16th-note patterns, and how those could be used to create interesting drum fills on the fly.
